We believe that we have an extraordinary opportunity to press the reset button in the commercial trucking industry: to recruit, nurture and retain the first truly diverse groups of participants. Doing so, however, calls for leaders who embrace the idea that diversity and inclusion are not only our social obligation but rather a business imperative.
The purpose of the DIT program is to raise awareness around D&I issues. Its objective is also to promote careers in trucking to underrepresented groups, celebrate accomplishments, and accelerate the conversation about why D&I matters for the commercial trucking industry.
A DIT Ambassador is someone who is a veteran in the industry and will typically spend time:
- Amplifying Ladies With Drive’s core message and raising visibility of our efforts to accelerate diverse participants into the industry by attending and speaking at industry trade shows, driving schools, and other industry events.
- Maintain online presence to share experiences- e.g. blogging, conducting podcasts, interviews etc.
- Be our voice to the media – be a spokesperson, provide interviews etc.
